The London’s life

People walked without thinking, without taking the time to observe what was going on around them, perhaps only paying attention to the road signs. The hubbub of this crowd rushing to cross the crosswalks before the pedestrian lights turn red again calls me. The hubbub, that's what I called the crowd of people. They all seemed absorbed by the English capital caught in this heavy traffic, at the same time I was in one of the busiest places in the city: Picadilly Circus.

Paradoxically, their attitude was for the most part the same, they walked one way or another and seemed to follow each other like a colony of ants.

All these people around me seemed to completely ignore the contrast that surrounded us: the different types of architecture, the newsstands, the pubs displayed on large screens, and the constant paradox between modernity and buildings with English architecture. Still, the contrast was really stark and it seemed hard to miss it.

At this moment, we were like a cliché of a great world capital where the key word is: rush, where you must constantly go fast, not waste time.

Where were they going? Did they follow the direction of the road signs? Were they going to consume as the many advertisements around us suggest? I couldn't help but ask myself these kinds of questions. To be honest I had no idea so I just looked at them and imagined the rest of their trip.

The streets were always full, the capital was full of people from all over the world, English of course, tourists or expatriates who came to settle here. No matter, the people in their quick and firm steps, not even a little hesitant, seemed to lose sight of the essentials, letting themselves be completely swallowed up by life of London.
